Welcome to my new site! I am thankful to The Free Website Guys for doing all the hard work for me. I highly recommend them to anyone who, like me, is deficient in web development skills and low on extra cash, and would prefer to let someone else create your site. If that’s you, here’s a link: https://thefreewebsiteguys.com/?js=170283
As I was reading through my Bible this morning, I followed a link to a YouTube video with an overview of the chapters I would be reading. Just as the video started to take off, I was distracted by a “suggested” video portraying a young woman sharing her story of deliverance from homosexuality by Jesus Christ. I listened to it, moved to tears at times and praising God for how He showed His love to her.
From there, I accidentally bumped the screen on my tablet which launched the story behind how God birthed the movie Sound of Freedom with Jim Caviezal. I was spellbound listening to the stories shared by Jim and the man the movie was written about, Tim Ballard.
I was struck by the power of the stories people have to share about God at work in their lives. It brought to mind the verse “And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death.” (Revelation 12:11, NASV).
Testimony is unbelievably powerful. At times when I’ve completely stalled out on my book, along comes someone who hasn’t yet heard the stories of how God moved with a mighty hand in the circumstances of my life as a new Christian. I’ll share a story that brings a tear to their eyes. And it reminds me that these stories are compelling, and people need to hear them. More than that – they want to hear them. Many have a desire deep within them to hear about God and His personal involvement in people’s lives. We can see this whenever a movie like Sound of Freedom sells out at the theater. Or when a series like The Chosen, completely crowd funded, becomes a worldwide phenomenon.
It revives me every time. I then dust off the manuscript and get back to work.
“So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner. Rather, join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God.” 2 Timothy 1:8
I encourage everyone out there who has a story about the work of Jesus Christ in your life to share! I want to hear them. We all do.
