In the midst of my difficulties trying to create a new and better website, I managed to sell my first article. I am now officially a paid writer!

I pitched an article to Premier Woman Alive, a Christian women’s magazine based in the U.K. In the email that contained the article content I was proposing, I shared a brief bio about myself and my writing experience which included a statement about my memoir in progress.
I received a response back, but no mention was made regarding the article I pitched. Instead, they asked if I would write a brief article sharing my story about Jesus saving me from meth addiction.
Why yes, I would. I live to tell that story. His story.
I wrote out the article and sent it off. They accepted it, and it was printed in their digital version on October 27. You can read it here.
The print version was adapted from some of the details I used earlier this year. My pastor made a recording of me sharing my story to show as a video during our Easter church service. That video can be seen here.
It can be difficult to be so transparent. It’s one thing to share at Christian youth groups and church group meetings, but it’s entirely different to share with the rest of the world. Which may include the parents of preschool children who attend my programs at work. But I want to share my story to help others who struggle, so I stare my fear and anxiety in the face and plunge ahead.
To God be the glory!

Woohoo, congrats! Always great to sell a story, no matter where you are in your career. That feeling never gets old. It’s almost as if all the work you’ve put in isn’t just empty effort, and the fact that others are willing to pay for it just makes it all the sweeter. May you continue this success in your journey!
Thank you! It does feel like very gratifying. And yes, just the shot I needed to put a little boost back into my writing.
