The fog of hydrocodone has lifted!
I really hoped to get a ton of writing done during the three weeks I would be off work from foot surgery on the 8th. Clearly, I hadn’t considered how woozy I’d be from the medication (pun intended!). Or how long it would take just to complete daily routine tasks, like brushing my teeth and getting dressed. Never mind trying to shower without putting weight on one foot!
Yesterday, I spent the first full day without the medication reacquainting myself with my book. And I’m right back to the decision as to whether I should continue to just throw random stories into it, producing a nightmare to reorganize later, or if it would serve me better to work on a plot map and outline now before writing anything more.
Part of me thinks it’s best just to write. Get the words out there. That’s what all the experts say. But it’s all so random and disorganized, and it doesn’t feel like a story. More like the ravings of a drunken victim. But working on the outline seems like it’s taking forever. Like I’m spending a ton of time just thinking instead of actually doing.
All right. I think I’ve come back to creating an outline and plot map before doing more writing.
Today’s the day.
