The Shack

Yesterday I offered up a heartfelt prayer of thanks to God for His gentle reminder that I need to unashamedly share His truth with others. For the second time in two weeks, someone asked me if I’ve read The Shack, this book by William P. Young that seems to have taken the nation by storm.  And for the second time, I hemmed and hawed about my impression of the book, afraid that if I voice my opinion I might anger or offend someone. I hate that about myself.

Instead of worrying about what people think, especially when they’re asking for my opinion, I should be telling them the things I know about the book which oppose what God teaches in His word.

“On the contrary, we speak as men approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel. We are not trying to please men but God, who tests our hearts.” 1 Thessalonians 2:4 (emphasis added)

My prayer was that God might count me worthy to suffer disgrace for the name of Jesus. Scary prayer. I’ll let you know how that one goes.
